Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is a time for joyous celebrations and warm wishes. Tomy C.C.Choi and his team at cccdi ltd. have taken this traditional celebration and given it a modern twist with their innovative website design, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI. This design, which translates to "May the Chinese New Year bring health, happiness, and fortune to your family and business," breaks away from the limitations of traditional websites, creating a virtual playground filled with Lunar New Year elements.

The website's unique features lie in its interactive elements. A group of core members from cccdi were invited to create short videos, each featuring different gestures and movements. These videos were then sped up and looped back and forth, creating a rewinding GIF-like e-card. When a visitor clicks on a person, they reach out and show a 'C' sign. Clicking on the ground prompts all individuals to reach out, creating a dynamic and engaging user experience.

The design was realized using HTML5 and a 3D JS Engine, and its layout was inspired by the vertical orientation of traditional Chinese paintings. The project, which began in October 2015 in Hong Kong, took three months to complete and was later refined in December 2017. One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the time-consuming nature of video production to fit the website's dimensions.

KUNG HEI FAT CHOI has been recognized for its innovative approach to website design, winning the Silver A' Website and Web Design Award in 2017.
